ATLAS

for TEENS

Worried about your teen and how they’re handling everything?

You try to talk to them but they shut down.

Whether it’s moving into high school, preparing for college, or just adjusting to life as a teenager, this stage can feel overwhelming. You may have noticed your teen pulling away, feeling more anxious, or simply not acting like themselves. You’ve tried talking, giving space, offering help, but nothing seems to land.

At Atlas Counseling Practice, Erika specializes in supporting adolescents through life’s hardest transitions, and parents along the way, too. Teen years are full of pressure: from school, friends, identity, and growing expectations. Therapy gives teens a space to work through it all without judgment, pressure, or pretending.

You might be noticing:

  • Your teen used to come home and call or text their friends, but now they’ve isolated themselves

  • They get unusually upset over small things, or seem irritated all the time

  • They used to eat dinner with the family, but now you aren’t even sure what they’re eating if at all

  • They’re up late every night working on school work or avoiding it completely

  • They’re more anxious before tests or social events, or suddenly don’t want to go to school at all

  • You try to reach out to them, but you hear things like “it’s whatever” or “I’m fine” or “leave me alone”

  • They’ve been through something traumatic or really overwhelming and haven’t seemed to be the same since.

You know your teen better than anyone.

If you’re worried, trust that instinct. Therapy can give them (and you) the support you’ve been searching for.

This stage is HARD. You want your child back.

As a parent, you’re doing your best. You’ve tried being patient, giving space, setting boundaries, offering support. It feels like you’re missing something.

What does therapy look like for teens?

Therapy with teens isn’t about diagnosing or “fixing” them. It’s about giving them safe, judgment-free space to explore what they’re thinking and feeling, especially when they’re struggling to open up anywhere else.

Sessions are teen-centered and paced to fit their comfort level. Sometimes we talk. Sometimes we use creative tools, body-based techniques, or humor to build trust and find clarity. Sometimes we dig deep and process really overwhelming things they’ve been through with evidence-based techniques. My goal is always the same: to help them feel seen, supported, and empowered.

You won’t be left out. I’ll partner with you along the way, offering guidance, insight, and support, while respecting your teens privacy and emotional autonomy.

Whether your teen is dealing with anxiety, low motivation, social stress, or big questions about identity and self-worth, they are capable of building tools, confidence, and resilience to overcome life struggles.

Common concerns I help teens work through:

  • Anxiety and chronic worry

  • Academic pressure and perfectionism

  • School avoidance or burnout

  • Low motivation or self-esteem

  • Depression and emotional shut down

  • Social struggles and friendship changes

  • Identity exploration and self-worth

  • Difficulty adjusting to high school or life transitions

  • Communication challenges with parents or caregivers

Atlas for teens is a dedicated part of my practice.

Atlas for teens is built with the unique needs of adolescents (and their parents) in mind. This isn’t adult therapy modified for younger people. It’s a space intentionally designed for teens to feel safe, heard, and respected for exactly who they are.

With more than a decade of experience supporting adolescents through life’s hardest transitions, I understand that therapy for teens needs to feel relevant, real, and rooted in trust. Whether your teen is high-achieving and overwhelmed or quiet and emotionally shut down, I meet them where they are with patience, empathy, and a trauma-informed lens.
